Table Tennis hits the UK University sports calendar this weekend with the sports first big event of the season!

The BUCS Table Tennis Championships are an annual two-day event, held every November. The event includes Men’s & Women’s Individual Championships, Men’s and Women’s Doubles Championships, and a Mixed Doubles Championship.

52 universities from all over the UK are set to take part in the event, with over 380 student-athletes vying for the BUCS points and medals on offer. The Championships are separate from the league season, with players from all leagues able to enter.

We look at where the Championships will be taking place and when the medals will be won in our 2022/23 BUCS Table Tennis Championships Preview.

Where are the Championships held?

The 2022/23 Table Tennis Individual and Doubles Championships are set to be held at the David Ross Sports Village at the University of Nottingham.

The multi-use facility which boasts sports halls, a multi-station gym, and a martial arts dojo, is no stranger to hosting the Championships having done so last year.

Schedule of Events

The Individual and Doubles Championships are contested over one weekend of action, starting early morning on Saturday 19th, and concluding in the evening on Sunday 20th.

On Saturday, both the Singles (Men and Women’s) and the Doubles competitions get underway where a full schedule sees matches being played throughout the opening day. Group matches and early rounds will take place to decide who makes it through to Sunday, where the latter stages of each tournament will be played.

All Championship finals will be played on Sunday, with the trophies and medals being awarded following the conclusion of the finals.

Alongside the Championships, a Plate Competition will also take place on the final day. The Plate Competition is for athletes that finished third in their group as part of the Men’s Singles and Women’s Singles competitions.
