There are a wide range of rugby opportunities for any student who wishes to compete alongside their degree. With men’s and women’s teams competing weekly in a tiered league structure, players of all ability levels can experience rugby during their time in the U.K.
U.K. universities often have multiple rugby teams entering into league competition to ensure all of their players, regardless of ability level, experience or level of study have the chance to represent their university in official competition.

BUCS Super Rugby is the highest level of Rugby Union in the U.K. University sport system.
The league consists of the 10 best university teams in the country who play each other on two occasions, home and away. After the initial 18 fixtures have been completed, the team who finishes bottom will be at risk of relegation and play off against teams fighting for promotion from the division below, whereas the top 8 teams proceed to enter the knock-out championship competition.
The championship final is the showpiece event of the rugby season, where the final two teams will play to become champions.
The continuous promotion and relegation of teams between the divisions at the end of each season ensures that each team gets a chance to compete at the highest level. Beyond the BUCS Super Rugby, there are a wide range of fantastic opportunities for male and female players.
