Each academic year over 250 men’s and women’s volleyball teams compete throughout the U.K. university sport system.
The U.K. university volleyball season runs from September through to early in the new year, with teams competing on a weekly basis. Successful teams will have the opportunity to extend their season further by advancing in the knockout trophy competition.
Towards the end of the season, as the warmer weather returns, players also have the chance to take to the beach for the annual BUCS Beach Volleyball Championship.

The standard required to achieve a volleyball scholarship will vary between universities.
