Following part one of our three-part BUCS Big Wednesday preview, we look at another five Championship finals set to take place at the biggest multi-sport event in UK university sport.
In today’s preview, we take a closer look at the Championships finals set to take place in Hockey, Lacrosse, Netball, Rugby League, and Rugby Union.
With all five sports attracting some of the biggest crowds at Big Wednesday, we can’t wait to see which teams come out on top and become national champions.

Championship Final Previews: Sports H-R
Championship Final Previews: Sports H-R
Hockey
Hosts Nottingham will look to put on a show in front of their home fans as both men’s and women’s teams will be competing for national titles in the Championship finals.
In the Men’s Championship final, Premier National Divison winners Nottingham meet last year’s national champions, Loughborough. These two sides have already clashed once this season, with Nottingham edging a 1-0 victory in a tightly contested league match back in November.
Premier National champions Nottingham will take on league runners-up Exeter in the ICG Women’s Championship final. Nottingham women’s team will be defending their national title on home soil, having defeated Birmingham 1-0 in last year’s final.

Lacrosse
The highly anticipated Lacrosse finals take place on the immaculate pitches at the David Ross Sports Village, where hosts Nottingham will once again be well represented.
This year’s men’s Championship game will feature both the winners (Nottingham) and runners-up (Nottingham Trent) of the Premier North division. In a repeat of last year’s semi-final, the undefeated hosts will be looking to avenge their defeat in one of the most anticipated matches of the day.
Winners of the Premier South, Exeter take on Premier North champions, Nottingham in the women’s Championship final. An undefeated season from Nottingham has them perfectly placed to secure back-to-back titles after defeating Durham at BUCS Big Wednesday 2022.
Lacrosse Finals

Netball
Two undefeated teams will go head to head in this year’s Netball Championship final.
Premier North winners Loughborough take on Premier South champions Bath in a game where the winners will secure the ultimate achievement for a UK university sports team – the coveted league and cup double.
The University of Bath will also feature in the National Trophy final, as their second team prepares to face Northern Tier 1 side Leeds Beckett.
Netball Finals

Rugby League
In a repeat of last year’s final, Northumbria will be defending their national title against 2022 runners-up Leeds Beckett.
Having recently been crowned Premier North champions, Leeds Beckett have certainly bounced back this season and with a 12-0 record on the year, will be looking to avenge last year’s defeat against the reigning champions.
Hosts Nottingham will feature in the National Trophy final as they come up against Northern Tier 1 champions, Central Lancashire.
Rugby League Finals

Rugby Union
With the BUCS Super Rugby Championship set to take place next month, Big Wednesday will once again showcase the men’s Trophy, and men’s and women’s Vase finals.
Reigning Trophy champions Brunel are in action again this year, this time in the men’s Vase final. They will be taking on last year’s runners-up Newcastle who will be desperate to continue their successful season after already winning the Premier North 1 Division.
Cardiff women’s team are another of last year’s finalists who have a shot at redemption, as they take on Loughborough 2’s in the Vase final. Both sides have secured Division titles and will look to finish the season strong with another title.
Rugby Union Finals
