A number of reigning Paralympic champions train at the UK’s state-of-the-art sports facilities, some of which are located on university campuses such as the Wheelchair Fencing National Training Centre at the University of Bath (pictured).

ParalympicsGB, the organization that represents Great Britain and Northern Ireland at the Paralympic Games, has consistently excelled since the inaugural Games in Rome in 1960. It has never fallen outside the top five in the medal table and has been a top-three nation since the Sydney 2000 Paralympics.

This strong tradition of supporting Paralympians was evident once again at the 2024 Paris Paralympics, where over half of the 215 athletes from Team GB reached the podium, securing a total of 124 medals (49 gold) across 18 different sports.
