There are over 70 registered rowing clubs throughout the U.K. University sport system that offer regular training and enter in multiple events throughout the academic year.

When most people think of U.K. University rowing, they think of The Boat Race, an annual rowing race between Cambridge University and Oxford University Boat Clubs. Held annually since 1856, The Boat race is a highlight of many people’s calendar. Each year 250,000 spectators line the banks of the River Thames to watch in person, with a further 15 million viewers watching on television around the world.

However, U.K. university rowing is so much more than the one famous boat race.
