With multiple deadlines to be aware of throughout the academic year, it is important that you are well organised when working on your U.K. university application.

This is where we can help. To give you the best possible chance of success when applying to a U.K. university, our team of full-time staff is on hand to support you throughout the application process.

Below, you will see a full breakdown of every important stage of the application process and the key dates of which you need to be aware.

U.K. University Undergraduate Application Timeline

May to September – Researching and Planning

Summary: In May you will be able to create your UCAS account for the 2023 intake and begin researching potential U.K. universities.

Applications cannot be submitted at this stage but you can build a shortlist of potential U.K. universities that you may wish to apply for and research their entry requirements.

Key dates to be aware of at this point in the process:

  • 3rd May 2022: UCAS Undergraduate application cycle commences for 2023 intake.

September to December – Preparing The Application

Summary:  During this stage of the process you should start to bring together all of the required application documents needed to complete a UCAS application.

If you also require an English language exam (such as IELTS or TOEFL) it would be advisable to book a date during this stage of the process.

Being organised at this stage of the year will help ensure you meet the upcoming deadlines.

From September onwards, completed undergraduate applications for the 2023 intake can be submitted to UCAS.

Key dates to be aware of at this point in the process

  • 6th September 2022: From this date onwards completed UCAS applications for the 2023 intake can begin to be submitted.
  • 15th October 2022: Application deadline for the University of Oxford, University of Cambridge and most courses in medicine, dentistry and veterinary medicine.

January – Submitting The Application

Summary: The initial UCAS deadline appears is in January each year.

It is important that you have all of your documents ready to be added to your UCAS account, ready for submission by the 25th January.

If you are applying to UCAS through The Student Sport Company, simply provide your documents to your adviser and we will have your document upload and submitted on your half.

Upon confirming your preferred courses that you wish to apply for and uploading your documents, your application can be uploaded.

Key dates in this part of the process:

  • 25th January 2023: UCAS Deadline for undergraduate courses in the U.K.

February to May – Awaiting Offer Responses

Summary: During this stage of the process you will await the outcome and feedback of your UCAS application.

Whilst waiting for the outcome of your applications, you can research any potential scholarship opportunities that you may be eligible for.

The Student Sport Company applicants will be provided with free advice relating to suitable scholarships.

You may receive offers with conditions at this stage. You can work towards satisfying any of the outstanding conditions.

June to July – Responding To Offer and Commencing The Visa Process

Summary:  Upon receiving the outcome of all of your applications, you will have to determine your preferred first and second choice options. Your first choice option is referred to as your Firm Choice and your second option is referred to as your Insurance.

Once you hold an unconditional offer, you can then officially accept your place at your preferred university and start working on the student visa stage of the process.

The Student Sport Company will be on hand to help all of their international applicants throughout this stage of the process.

August to September – Preparing To Depart

Summary:  During this stage of the process it will be important to ensure that you have your student visa process complete and all your documents in order to travel.

The Student Sport Company will help provide all of their applicants with a range of helpful pre-departure advice.

We also can also help you to order all of your essentials such as bedding and kitchen utensils, and have them delivered to your student housing waiting for your arrival. Find out more here.

Key dates to be aware of at this point in the process:

  • 1st September onwards: Undergraduate classes in the U.K. commence in September.
