We highlight all of the winners from this year’s thrilling UK University Triathlon Standard Championships.
The penultimate BUCS Championship event of the 2022/23 season took place this past weekend as students represented their universities in the BUCS Triathlon Standard Championships.
A grueling test of endurance and athleticism, tee third and final Triathlon event of the season encompassed three stages: a 1500m lake swim, a 40km bike ride, and a 10km run.
Almost 200 students from universities across the UK gathered at Whitlingham Country Park in the picturesque county of Norfolk, Eastern England, ready to push their physical and mental limits to the extreme.
We take a look at which students and universities earned medals at this year’s event.
Men’s Race Results
In the men’s race, it was Loughborough University that dominated the individual podium, securing gold and bronze medals courtesy of Matthew Collins and Louis Woodgate respectively.
With two medals and a race-high 15 total finishers, Loughborough secured the men’s overall title, followed by the University of Leeds in second place.
Birmingham’s Jack Shayler completed the individual podium with a silver medal in his final BUCS race, contributing to the University of Birmingham’s third-place finish overall.

Women’s Race Results
Building on her previous success of earning bronze in the BUCS Sprint Triathlon earlier this year, Lauren Dickson from the University of Leeds claimed the gold medal in the women’s race.
A silver medal for Glasgow’s Mia Padmanabhan and a bronze for Loughborough’s Rachael Vatter completed the women’s podium.
With an impressive group of eight finishers, including an outstanding three in the top 10, The University of Birmingham claimed the overall women’s title.
