Discover How St Andrews Challenged Leading NCAA Division I Golf Teams and What It Means For UK University Golf
Beyond an action-packed university golf calendar featuring individual tournaments, team competitions and national championships, UK university golf offers student-athletes some exciting opportunities to test themselves against international opposition.
One such event is the St Andrews Links Collegiate, an annual tournament that has welcomed leading NCAA Division I golf programmes to Scotland since its introduction in 2023, bringing some of America’s top college golfers to compete against British university opposition at the historic Home of Golf.
We look back on what happened at the 2026 St Andrews Links Collegiate and why events like this make the UK an exciting destination for aspiring university golfers.
How the St Andrews Links Collegiate Brings NCAA Division I Golf to Scotland
First introduced in 2023, the St Andrews Links Collegiate has quickly become an exciting fixture in international university golf, bringing established NCAA Division I programmes across the Atlantic to compete against the University of St Andrews.
The three-day competition begins with two rounds of individual stroke play on the Jubilee Course, before moving to the historic Old Course for the final day’s team match-play championships, with live television coverage on Golf Channel in the United States and Sky Sports in the UK.

Returning for its fourth edition from 12 to 14 October 2026, the St Andrews Links Collegiate once again brought together elite men’s and women’s university golf teams for three days of international competition on two of the world’s most iconic golf courses.

The previous year’s tournament had delivered a memorable achievement for the host university, with St Andrews golfer Ellie Monk claiming the women’s individual stroke-play title ahead of competitors from Princeton University, Michigan State University and the University of California, Berkeley.
Building on that success, the 2026 edition welcomed three more prestigious American universities to Scotland, setting the stage for another exciting chapter of international university golf.
St Andrews Reaches Both Championship Finals Against Leading NCAA Division I Programs
The 2026 St Andrews Links Collegiate delivered an impressive showing from the host university, with both the men’s and women’s golf teams progressing to the championship finals for the first time in the tournament’s history.
After two rounds of stroke play on the Jubilee Course, the University of Texas led both competitions, but it was St Andrews that secured the remaining places in the finals, finishing ahead of Washington and Penn in both categories.
