The National League – The Pinnacle of UK University Tennis

The BUCS National League is the highest level of the annual BUCS university tennis team league competition.

The last five seasons have highlighted the competitive balance of BUCS National League tennis, with multiple universities claiming titles. Stirling has won three men’s championships and Loughborough three women’s titles, while Nottingham and Bath have also enjoyed success. This mix of sustained success and changing champions highlights the depth of competition at the top of British university tennis.

BUCS delivers a diverse level of competition across BUCS tennis, with 391 teams across 85 leagues and knockouts, involving 81 institutions during the 2025–26 season.

The BUCS Tennis Pathway: Divisions, Leagues and National Competition

The BUCS National League is the highest level of the annual BUCS university tennis team league competition but it also extends well beyond the Premier National division featured at the Super Weekend. Beneath it, teams compete in regional Premier divisions and leagues across areas including the Midlands, North, South East, West and Scotland, with multiple tiers in several regions. This creates opportunities for students with different levels of experience and ambition to represent their university and compete against other institutions.
