The Student Sport Company become the official Media and Recruitment Partner of the British University Swimming League.

The Student Sport Company will be working closely with the British University Swimming League (BUSL) to raise the profile of their events, as well as providing an avenue for their member university swimming teams to recruit future student-athletes.

Our increased event coverage will elevate BUSL’s profile in the Higher Education sector and raise awareness among future university applicants about the diverse swimming opportunities available alongside their UK university education.

As it gears up for its third season, the British University Swimming League presents member swimming teams with an exciting array of opportunities to race throughout the academic year, ranging from duel-meet style galas and larger traditional galas to the pinnacle event – the BUSL National Final.

What is the BUSL?

The British University Swimming League (BUSL) is a competitive league run entirely by students, united by the ambition to improve university swimming.

The BUSL aims to give swimmers from across the country numerous opportunities to race throughout the year alongside BUCS competition.

Reflecting on the announcement, Harry Newton, Director of The Student Sport Company, spoke on the positive impact the partnership will have on UK university swimming:

“We are thrilled to announce our partnership with the British University Swimming League (BUSL). As the official Media and Recruitment Partner, we are excited to commence our work with BUSL and provide coverage of their events over the upcoming seasons.”

“UK University sport provides so many opportunities for student-athletes to compete alongside their degrees.

Whilst many will be familiar with the BUCS Leagues and Championships, there is a range of further opportunities that students have to get involved in their preferred sport when at University. In swimming, the BUSL is a shining example of an additional opportunity to compete throughout that academic that both domestic and international students are simply not aware of at a great scale.

We have seen them grow and develop over the last two years and we hope that our coverage of the upcoming BUSL season will make more students aware of the opportunities that they have to remain involved in swimming when at university”.

As a further benefit to the BUSL member universities, The Student Sport Company also helps to make them aware of the opportunity to engage in the recruitment of their international student-athletes.

Harry Newton added:

“Every day, we receive enquiries from prospective international students that wish to study and play sport in the UK. Swimming in particular has grown to become one of our most popular sports, attracting applicants from 35 different countries in the last 18 months.

By working with the BUSL and their member universities, we hope to help them identify and connect with future swimmers to improve and maintain the standard of their teams.”

BUSL Co-President and Founder, Ewan Taylor, spoke with equal enthusiasm, stating:

We are very excited to partner with the Student Sport Company who will be producing articles and media that will give in-depth breakdowns of events as well as spotlight look at individual swimmers and teams. We hope this continues to build our online presence, spreading the word to students and supporters about what BUSL and the Student Sport Company do for swimming!”

The schedule and conferences for the 2023/24 BUSL Season will be announced in August.
