Following the release of the 2022 QS World University Rankings by Subject, the U.K. remains one of the best countries in the world to study sport-related courses.

The QS World University Rankings by Subject are an independent comparative analysis on the performance of 15,200 individual university programmes.

These programmes are taken by students at 1,543 universities in 88 locations across the world and span across 51 academic disciplines. Each discipline is then grouped into five broader subject areas; Arts & Humanities, Engineering & Technology, Life Sciences & Medicine, Natural Sciences, and Social Sciences & Management.

In this year’s edition, U.K. institutions top 14 different subject areas including English Language, Art & Design, Development Studies, and Sports-related Subjects.

U.K. institution tops Sport-related Subject table

As well as topping a variety of subject areas, the U.K. also has the number 1 ranked university in the world for sports-related subjects.

For the sixth year running, Loughborough University in England has been named the best university in the world for sports-related subjects. Loughborough has taken the best in the world title ever since QS launched the Rankings by Subject in 2017.

Alongside Loughborough, there are three more U.K. institutions that land in the top 10 (University of Birmingham, University of Bath, and Liverpool John Moores University). A further four universities (University of Exeter, UCL, University of Edinburgh, and University of Manchester) also made it onto the top 50 places to study a sport-related subject in the world.
